This report describes the modeling methodology and results for testing DOMUS according to ASHRAE 1052 – RP Toolkit “Building Fabric Analytical Tests”. This Toolkit is a suite of analytical tests to be used in testing the building fabric aspects of building energy analysis programs.
Abadie M.O. DOMUS Testing with ASHRAE 1052-RP Toolkit – Building Fabric Analytical Tests. DOMUS – PROCEL EDIFICA Version Beta. Validation Report for ELETROBRÁS/APC-PUCPR (Grant # ECV 283/2008), Thermal Systems Laboratory (LST), Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), September 2010, 32p.
This report describes the modeling methodology and results for testing done of building thermal envelope and fabric tests designated as Cases 195 through 960 of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 140 – 2007 titled Standard Method of Test for the Evaluation of Building Energy Analysis Computer Programs. The results of DOMUS are also compared with results from several other whole building energy analysis programs that simulated the same test cases.
This report describes the additional validations and verifications performed to test the capabilities of DOMUS to treat heat and mass transfer problems not covered by ASHRAE 1052 – RP Toolkit “Building Fabric Analytical Tests” nor ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 140 – 2007 titled Standard Method of Test for the Evaluation of Building Energy Analysis Computer Programs. The present report has been structured in 2 main parts: the first one is devoted to moisture transport inside the porous materials employed in the envelope structure and its effect on room air humidity levels and building energy consumption and the second one is dedicated to airflow through large external apertures such as windows and doors, which evaluation is of great importance when natural ventilation takes place.
